I still remember the first time I laid eyes on a Tesla Model S — It was in 2013 and one of my former co-workers had just purchased one and was showing it off to everyone in the parking lot. Right then and there I knew that I had to have one too…
Only difference was by 2013 I was totally absorbed with the whole early FI game so my focus was on investing, of course…
In the spring of 2013, I loaded up on shares of TSLA when the stock was trading in the ~$50/share range.
As they say, the rest is history…
Anyway, something extremely important is happening later this evening.
4 long years later (wow time sure does fly!), and we’ve finally approached the bottom of the first inning of the upcoming clean energy/electric vehicle paradigm shift.
Behold world, deliveries begin for the new Tesla Model 3!
Anyway, as readers know, over the last year or so I’ve been busy buying up shares of companies owning assets across the following battery materials: lithium, cobalt, graphite, copper, nickel, etc. trying to get my timing and positions right to play this monumental shift that’s fast underway; I liken this next boom to be similar to that of the smartphone revolution just 10 short years ago.
Like with the Model S in 2013, it’s now 2017 and I’m similarly just trying to pick out the right investment vehicles.
Here’s what happened of note to my portfolio in the Land of Oz tonight.
My newest position, AVZ Minerals (AVZ.AX) spiked up 15%, closing the session at A$0.061/share, but actually hit as high as A$0.067/share during intraday trading.
Check out that INSANE trading volume of over 100 million shares!
This was on the heels of some very positive news, the assay results of the first drill hole at the company’s most prospective Manono Lithium-Tin project, located in the Democratic Republic of Congo, were released earlier than expected to market.
From AVZ Minerals.
202.8m @ 1.57% Li2O.
Yeah, that’ll turn some heads and spark some investor interest…
It’s just one hole, so no need for anyone to get too carried away here.
But damn, what a hit!
I doubled up on my position this past Sunday night (Monday in Australia), and will share the details of my latest wheelings and dealings in a separate post.
I posted a video discussing AVZ Minerals here.
Next, we turn to cobalt.
Ardea Resources (ARL.AX) has been on a tear of late, and I can’t see the momentum slowing down anytime soon.
The stock is basically trading near 52 week highs, so of course caution is highly advised. Still, the market cap remains quite small, relatively speaking, and if cobalt and nickel keep ascending higher, this stock will stand to benefit greatly.
I covered Ardea Resources in detail here.
Finally, Nzuri Copper (NZC.AX) is starting to get some love from the market.
The volume traded today was pretty healthy too, so that’s somewhat encouraging. Nevertheless, this company owns assets in the Democratic Republic of Congo (this is seriously the place to be to find some of the highest quality geology on earth), so will always be discounted to its peer group.
I see great value here, geopolitical risks and all…
I covered Nzuri copper in light detail here.
That’s all from Australia, so we’ll see what Canada has in store for us tomorrow… In particular, I’m watching Critical Elements (CRE.V/CRECF) and eCobalt Solutions (ECS.TO/ECSIF) most closely.
It took us 4 years, but I think we’re now finally entering the bottom of the first inning of the clean energy/EV revolution.
Elon Musk and Tesla had so many haters/doubters/assholes to prove wrong… The Model S was a massive success and you still have folks to this day out there throwing nasty shade around wanting/hoping/praying for Tesla to fail…
I’ll never understand that shit, but it is what it is…
For myself, I’m a huge fan of innovation and technology. I like to see progress made, and hell, who are we kidding here?
Let’s all make some serious $$$ in the process!
Bring on the Model 3!
